Blackstar Star Types — Stellar Classification Characters, Names & Descriptions

Blackstar Star Types — Stellar Classification Characters, Names & Descriptions In the Blackstar Shooting Stars universe, your type defines your power. Every star classification — from the smallest dwarf to the most violent supernova — is a warrior class with distinct abilities and roles on the cosmic battlefield. Discover every star type character below. Nova A nova is a sudden, dramatic brightening of a white dwarf star that has accumulated hydrogen from a companion, triggering runaway nuclear fusion on its surface. Unlike a supernova, the star survives. In Blackstar, Nova is an explosive warrior who releases colossal bursts of power and then recharges — capable of repeated devastating strikes that keep enemies permanently off balance. Supernova A supernova is the catastrophic explosion of a massive star at the end of its life — the most powerful explosion in the universe short of a gamma-ray burst. The explosion can briefly outshine an entire galaxy. In Blackstar, Supernova is the ultimate sacrifice warrior — their final attack destroys everything in a massive radius, an irreversible move that ends any battle instantly, at any cost. Pulsar A pulsar is a rapidly rotating neutron star that emits beams of electromagnetic radiation from its magnetic poles, appearing to pulse like a cosmic lighthouse as it spins. Some pulsars spin hundreds of times per second. In Blackstar, Pulsar is a precision striker whose attacks come in rapid, perfectly timed beams — hitting the same target point over and over with metronome accuracy. Quasar A quasar is the extremely luminous core of a distant galaxy powered by a supermassive black hole consuming matter at extraordinary rates — the brightest objects in the universe. Some quasars outshine entire galaxies by a factor of thousands. In Blackstar, Quasar is the most powerful long-range warrior in existence — their attacks cross galactic distances and their presence illuminates entire cosmic territories. Magnetar A magnetar is a type of neutron star with an extraordinarily powerful magnetic field — the strongest known in the universe — capable of warping atoms and disrupting electronics across vast distances. In Blackstar, Magnetar is a disruption warrior who warps enemy weapons, disables technology, and bends the trajectory of attacks back toward their origins with magnetic force. Blazar A blazar is a type of quasar whose relativistic jet is pointed almost directly at Earth, making it one of the most energetic phenomena observed. They emit across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. In Blackstar, Blazar is a directed-beam warrior — everything they have focused into a single devastating line of energy aimed directly at a target, one of the few forces that can pierce any defense. Neutron A neutron star is the collapsed core of a massive star after a supernova, squeezed to roughly 20 km across but containing more mass than the Sun. A teaspoon of neutron star material would weigh a billion tons. In Blackstar, Neutron is the densest warrior in existence — small, compact, and virtually impossible to damage. Their gravity alone pulls everything toward them. Dwarf A white dwarf is the fading remnant of a Sun-like star that has shed its outer layers and is slowly cooling over billions of years. Nearly all stars in the galaxy will become white dwarfs. In Blackstar, Dwarf is a stoic, patient warrior who has seen every conflict across billions of years — slow to act but carrying the compressed wisdom and power of an entire stellar lifetime. Supergiant A supergiant star is among the most massive and luminous stars in existence, hundreds of times the diameter of the Sun. They burn bright and fast, living only millions of years before exploding as supernovae. In Blackstar, Supergiant is the colossus class — overwhelming in size and power, burning through resources fast, but commanding the battlefield like no other. Hypergiant A hypergiant is an extremely rare class of star with luminosities millions of times greater than the Sun, so massive they are near the theoretical limit of stellar mass. They shed enormous amounts of mass through stellar winds. In Blackstar, Hypergiant is the boss-tier warrior — so powerful they require entire armies to contain, and so massive they constantly radiate destructive energy simply by existing. Protostar A protostar is a young star still accumulating mass from a collapsing cloud of gas and dust — not yet undergoing sustained nuclear fusion and still surrounded by an accretion disk. In Blackstar, Protostar is a young recruit — raw, full of uncontrolled potential, still forming their identity as a warrior. The most dangerous kind of unknown, because their ceiling is limitless. Cepheid A Cepheid variable is a type of star that pulsates in a regular, predictable cycle — its brightness varying in a period directly related to its luminosity. This property makes them ideal cosmic distance markers. In Blackstar, Cepheid is a rhythmic power warrior — their strength pulses on a known cycle, and the greatest challenge for enemies is learning to strike in the gaps between peaks. Wolrayet Wolf-Rayet stars are extremely hot, massive stars near the end of their lives, shedding their outer layers in powerful stellar winds and exposing the hot core within. They are precursors to supernovae. In Blackstar, Wolrayet is a stripped-down warrior of raw fury — having shed every non-essential element, they fight with nothing but the exposed blazing core of their power. Subgiant A subgiant is a star that has begun expanding from the main sequence toward becoming a giant, sitting in transition between a regular star and a giant. In Blackstar, Subgiant is the warrior in transition — more powerful than they were but not yet at their peak, fighting with the ambition of someone who knows exactly where they are going. Carbon Carbon stars are cool red giants with atmospheres rich in carbon, giving them a deep reddish hue. They form when material from the helium-burning shell mixes to the surface. In Blackstar, Carbon is an elder warrior with deep, dark power — ancient and reddened by time, carrying layers of compressed energy forged over billions of years of nuclear burning. Runaway Runaway stars are stars moving through space at exceptional velocities, often having been ejected from binary systems or stellar clusters through gravitational interactions or supernova events. In Blackstar, Runaway is a rogue warrior with no fixed alliance — launched from their origin by a catastrophic event, they cross entire galaxies at impossible speed, choosing battles on their own terms. Variable A variable star is any star whose brightness changes over time, whether due to pulsations, eclipses by a companion, or other physical processes. Thousands of variable star types exist. In Blackstar, Variable is an unpredictable shape-shifter — their power level is never the same in any two battles, and the uncertainty of what they will be on any given day is itself a weapon. Flare A flare star is a type of dim red dwarf that produces powerful, sudden stellar flares — brief but intense bursts of energy from magnetic activity. Some flares can temporarily make the star ten times brighter. In Blackstar, Flare is a surprise-attack specialist — quiet and dim most of the time, then erupting into brief moments of overwhelming power that catch any enemy off guard. Zombie Zombie stars are white dwarfs that survive a thermonuclear supernova explosion, partially detonating but remaining as an intact, rapidly moving remnant — a star that should be dead but continues to persist. In Blackstar, Zombie is the unkillable warrior — every final blow that should end them leaves them damaged but moving, carrying on with pieces missing, impossible to completely destroy. Helium Helium stars are stars whose outer hydrogen envelope has been stripped away, exposing a helium-burning core. They can arise from mass transfer in binary systems or strong stellar winds. In Blackstar, Helium is a stripped-down, efficient warrior — no outer shell, no wasted energy, just the hot, pure core of power fighting in its most concentrated form. Binary A binary star system is two stars in orbit around their common center of mass — the most common stellar arrangement in the galaxy. More than half of all stars exist in binary or multi-star systems. In Blackstar, Binary is a two-form warrior who fights as one but can split into two independent fighters — able to surround enemies and coordinate attacks from opposite sides simultaneously. Subdwarf Subdwarf stars are underluminous for their spectral type, with hot subdwarfs (sdB, sdO) being stripped cores of red giant stars — helium-burning objects without a hydrogen envelope. In Blackstar, Subdwarf is the stripped-back specialist — not as large as a full giant but burning hotter and with more focused intensity, maximizing output in a compact package. Magnetosphere A magnetosphere is the region around a star or planet dominated by its magnetic field, protecting it from solar wind and cosmic radiation. Stars with powerful magnetospheres can control vast regions of space around them. In Blackstar, Magnetosphere is the ultimate shield warrior — projecting a vast defensive field that deflects attacks, controls the space around them, and protects all allied forces within range. Eccentric An eccentric star system is one where the orbit is highly elliptical rather than circular — bringing components in close, intense passes before swinging them far apart. High-eccentricity binary systems experience dramatic tidal forces during close approach. In Blackstar, Eccentric is a warrior who fights in waves — distant and passive most of the time, but every so often swinging in close for devastating, periodic strikes that leave enemies scrambling to predict the pattern.
